The MongoDB client for every server you run.

Query, aggregate and script against local, staging and production, side by side. No account, no telemetry.

Everything between you and the document.

A dense, keyboard-first workspace where your data gets the room and the chrome steps back. Every screen here is the real app, running on sample data.

Filter, sort, limit and skip with completion that knows MongoDB operators. Read results as a grid with the selected document beside it, a JSON tree or raw JSON, and double-click any value to edit it in place.

Compare environments without switching windows.

Connect to as many servers as you need and keep them all live. Open the same collection on staging and production next to each other and read the difference.

Each tab knows its server
Collection and console tabs are bound to their own connection and underlined in that connection's color, so production never looks like local.
Groups that build themselves
Tabs gather by connection on their own. Make your own groups too, collapse one to a chip, or open a whole group side by side.
Up to four panes
Split the editor into two or three columns or a 2×2 grid, drag tabs onto a pane, and maximize the one you are reading.

CtrlAlt1–4 sets the layout, Ctrl\opens a tab to the side. (Cmd on macOS.)

Live HTML, not a screenshot: click a pane or a row. Sample data.

An AI assistant that can look, but never touch.

Ask for a filter, an aggregation pipeline or a console script in plain words. Mongo Studio hands the question to the Claude Code or Codex CLI you already use, gives it read-only tools, and nothing it writes runs until you press Run.

Opt-in and off until you set it up

Ctrl/Cmd+L opens the Assistant beside your work, in a session bound to one database. It samples the schema, runs read-only queries with a limit, and answers with a proposal card you can dry-run and apply.

Read-only by construction
The agent reaches your server only through read-only tools the app serves over a local MCP server: list collections, sample the schema, find and aggregate with a limit, explain, count. Its own shell and file tools are off, and $out and $merge are refused.
You decide what it sees
Connections are shared one by one, and reading document values asks you first unless you allow it in settings.
No key of ours
Mongo Studio holds no API key and runs no model. When the Assistant is on, your messages and what the agent reads go to Anthropic or OpenAI under your own CLI account.

Light or dark, it is the same tool.

One interface in two appearances, built to sit next to your IDE. Drag to compare.

And the rest of the toolbox

Connections
Paste a URI or fill in a form, with TLS (custom CA and client certificates), SSH tunnels, auth mechanism and source, replica sets, pool size and timeouts.
Secrets
Passwords and passphrases go to macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager or Linux Secret Service, with an encrypted-file fallback on headless Linux.
Coming from Compass
Import connections from Compass's JSON format, pick which ones to bring, and export them the same way.
Folders and colors
Organize connections in nested folders and give each an identity color that follows its tabs.
Inline editing
Double-click a value to change it, copy a document as JSON, or open an updateOne for its _id in a console.
Export
Stream a whole find or aggregate result to disk as JSON or CSV, flattening nested fields into columns or keeping them as JSON text.
Saved scripts
Save console scripts as .js files with Ctrl/Cmd+S and keep them in their own tool window.
Logs without secrets
A local log for when a connection fails, which never records passwords, connection strings, filters, scripts or documents.

Nothing leaves your machine.
